Sarebbe una fantastica app, se funzionasse anche offline.. !!

That's exactly what i'm longing for! This feature is now available in some other apps for wp7, hope GMaps will add it as soon as possible!

Google Maps offers the ability to save your own adresses. It will be clever to find that back in gMaps with the ability to download part of the map to prepare a travel abroad.

Google maps added this for Android - you can choose a place, and then select an option to download all levels of maps for a 10 mile radius.

A real offfline Mode would be great (i.e., saving specific routes or regions at different scales). However, a decent-sized cache to remember the last position(s) would vastly increase usabilitiy and be highly appreciated!!!

This is also a very useful feature when 3G data rates apply (like traveling overseas). On the iPhone you can cache all of the areas you plan on traveling when connected to Wifi, then turn 3G off and GPS still works with all of the maps cached data... very nice feature that gMaps should implement.

I am driving, I "remember" to "Prevent Screen Lock" and browsing the map. I get a text, I have to check it. I click back button to go back to gMaps and boom. The map is gone. It has to reload the entire thing all over again. Really bad for someone like us in India where GPRS / 3G isn't quite powerful.
It would be really good if gMaps could at least cache the maps for temporary time if not download the maps for offline browsing.

Sometimes connections fails turns very slow or it's simply unavailable. An applications to take snapshots at certains zoom levels and that you can choose what of them to load the phone

It would be good to download the maps from an specific area so we can navigate also in those places where 3g connection fails.

I will not be always connected to a wireless service.but the GPS should be able to track me with the maps downloaded locally. I could have a check box mentioning to mention the area to be downloaded. Maps don't need to updated always from server
